Cristiano Ronaldo has once again written his name in football history.
In Portugal’s 2-2 draw with Hungary, the legendary forward scored twice to set a new all-time scoring record in FIFA World Cup qualifying history.
Ronaldo Makes History Once More
On Tuesday night, the 40-year-old Portugal captain netted a brace, becoming the top scorer in World Cup qualifying history with 41 goals, surpassing Guatemala’s Carlos Ruiz (39).
Ronaldo’s first goal came in the 22nd minute after a precise cross from Nelson Semedo, and he doubled his tally just before halftime from Nuno Mendes’ brilliant assist.
Both goals were pure Cristiano Ronaldo — perfect positioning, deadly instinct, and unstoppable finishing.
“Playing for my country means everything to me”
Ronaldo shared his pride on social media after the match:
“It’s no secret that representing Portugal means a lot to me. I’m very proud to have reached this milestone. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here. See you in November to seal our World Cup qualification!”
Although Portugal were held to a draw after a late equalizer from Dominik Szoboszlai, they remain top of Group F and on course to qualify for next year’s World Cup.
143 Goals for Portugal and Still Hungry for More
Following this game, Cristiano Ronaldo now has 143 goals for Portugal, extending his record as the highest-scoring men’s international player of all time.
At 40, his passion and determination continue to inspire football fans worldwide — from Lisbon to Warsaw, where supporters proudly wear their topowe koszulki piłkarskie to celebrate the beautiful game.
